FileMaker 11 is out
FileMaker 11 has been released and it's full of great new features.
FileMaker Charts
Create eye-catching reports using bar, line, area, and pie charts.
There is no longer any need to use Plug-ins to add charts to a solution. FileMaker has added Line, Horizontal Bar, Pie, Area, and Vertical Bar charts, using the found set of records with the database file.
QuickFind
The new QuickFind tool is located in the upper right of the status toolbar. This provides the user with the ability to search all fields on the layout, similar to a Search Engine. QuickFind is a more intuitive way for searching. It also automatically saves recent searches for quick access as a drop-down list.
Quick Reports
Quick Reports is a new way to make on-the-fly reporting incredibly easy. In fact, you don't even have to leave browse mode.
Quick Reports treats your data as if it were a spreadsheet. One can add fields and records by clicking a column or row, and even change a field's type (number, text, time, container ... even calculation or summary) right then and there.
One can create a report with grouped data from browse mode. No more setting up the subsummaries, or fiddling with layouts.
Inspector
Now one is able to manage all layout tools all in one convenient place.
All the familiar functions like alignments, positioning and text properties have moved to the Inspector.
Snapshot
One is now able to select "Snapshot Link" from the File menu to produce a snapshot of that found set as a new file, including the sort order and layout that you chose.
One can email the resulting ‘snapshot’ file to a colleague who will see the very same found set of records, sort order and layout on their machine running FileMaker 11
Miscellaneous
• New! Recurring Import — Automatically import Excel and text files every time you open your database.
• New! Layout Folders — Organize layouts into folders with easy drag and drop.
• FileMaker is now fully compatible with Windows 7
